Right now, I am taking Bible 350. This class is an inductive Bible study class that teaches one how to properly study and interpret the Bible. One point that has been repeated over the last eight chapters is, “context determines meaning.” What they mean by this is, while reading the Bible we must first seek to discover what the text meant to its original audience. After following a few steps, we can then try to figure out how the theological principles found in the text are applied to us today. The context determines meaning idea states that the meaning is within the text and we shouldn’t seek to think about what we think it should mean. So, I have currently read through 8 chapters. Tomorrow, I will read through the ninth and then I will begin writing my discussion board. This class is very challenging and a lot of work, but I am learning a lot, therefore, it is well worth it.
