Over the last several years, I have come to the realization that context and syntax regarding the original language of Scripture to be some of the most important elements in understanding what the Bible says. You see, I believe that God’s Word was written to it’s original audience, yet contains biblical principles for us today. Therefore, I believe that in order for us to understand what Scripture says we must first study what it meant to those whom first received it. One of the ways that will make this task easier is to learn the languages they were written in.
As of Tuesday, February 7th, I have begun the process of learning Greek, along with a friend from church. My home group leader is “teaching” us this language, and we are using William D. Mounce’s Basics of Biblical Greek. I would encourage each of you join us in this process. What do you have to lose?
